Painting the Town Red and Rockin'!
| If you want to be treated to some excellent music performed live and enjoy equally excellent footage, then this is for you. Paul McCartney is not only a class act, but a veteran entertainer who appears to be happy with himself and at home in his profession. Both speak to the good.
I like the way documenatary footage was added which for me made for a bonus part of the show. Although it was not a "true live experience," it was indeed a delightful performance and the contrast between documentary and concert footage helped strengthen the film. Viewers got an even deeper sense of the concert and what took place in making it possible. I LOVED the inclusion of several of my favorite Beatle songs!
GREAT CONCERT | |
| I am not the biggest McCartney fan ( Beatles are my favotite group). I have seen two of his concerts on tv and didn't think they were very good. I wasn't going to watch this concert on A&E but I am glad I did. He sings every song like he was 25 years old again. The sound is very good. The responce of the crowd is intense. I was IMPRESSED. | |
It's another McCartney DVD, so don't get your hopes up...
| The live footage is great and the documentary stuff is interesting and well put together, but how hard would it be for McCartney to just release one DVD of a complete concert without all of the distractions? This will be Macca's fourth live DVD release since he resumed touring in 1989 (excluding one-offs like the Cavern and DVD's where he appears with other artists), and yet again he is incapable of just giving fans what they want: a true live experience. If you found the constant cutting between documentary and concert footage in "Back In The U.S." excruciating, prepare for more of the same here.
What should have been done was release a two-disc set like the "Concert For George," with the documentary as broadcast on disc one and the full, uninterrupted concert on disc two. But it's not to be, sadly...
